Pengaruh Konsentrasi Pelarut Etanol Terhadap Absorbansi Brazilin Pada Simplisia Kayu Secang (Caesalpinia sappan L.)

Abstract


One of the plants that is widely used in traditional medicine in Indonesia is secang (Caesalpinia sappan L), the part of the plant that is often used by the community is wood. Secang wood contains many chemical active compounds, one of them is brazilin. One way to get brazil is by extraction method. The process of obtaining the maximum dye from the Brazilian compound is influenced by the use of solvents. Research on variations in ethanol solvent concentration needs to be done to produce brazilian dyestuffs with maximum absorbance that can be used as natural dyes. The specific objective in this study was to measure the absorbance of brazilian extract by spectrophotometry using variations of ethanol solvent concentration (50% v/v, 60% v/v, 70% v/v, 80% v/v, 90% v/v and to find out Ethanol solvent concentration is optimal for the maximum absorbance of brazilian compounds in spectrophotometer.Research has been carried out is the extraction of brazilian compounds in secang wood using maceration method and measurement of absorbance of brazilian compounds using spectrophotometric methods.The average yield of the Brazilian compound absorbance at 50% v / v, 60% v / v, 70% v / v, 80% v / v, 90% v / v are 0.439 A, 0.441 A, 0482 A, 0.525 A and 0.555 A. The average absorbance of the Brazilian compound the lowest was 50% v / v concentration of ethanol which was 0.439 A and the highest was 90% v / v concentration of ethanol which was 0.555 A. In conclusion, the ethanol solvent concentration affected the absorbance of the brazilian compound, the higher the concentration For ethanol, the higher the absorbance of the Brazilian compound.
