Abstract

Alternative energy sources of biomass in Indonesia have considerable
potential, one of which is wood pellets. Besides being used as fuel for
cooking purposes using a biomass stove, the heat generated from
combustion can be converted into electrical energy using thermoelectric
generators, which are devices that can generate electricity by utilizing
different hot and cold temperatures. The hot temperature is produced from
the combustion results and the cold temperature is obtained from 2 fans
installed on the opposite side. This device is mounted on a biomass stove.
There are 3 variations of installation based on the distance to the starting
point of the ignition, which is a distance of 15 cm, 20 cm and 25 cm. This
study aims to determine which parts produce the largest electricity output
from the three variations of the distance of the thermoelectric generator. The electricity produced is directly proportional to the difference in temperature produced. To produce a large temperature difference the positioning position of the thermoelectric generator device must be able to produce maximum heat but on the cold side it can maintain its cold temperature from the influence of heat. In this study the best position is at a distance of 20 cm from the starting point of the ignition, with a maximum temperature difference of 110 ° C and electricity generated 2,983 V.
