Abstract

Rice husk can produce flammable gas through the gasification process. The application of the use of rice husk syn-gas biomass has been thoroughly studied to be used as an additional material in combustion on diesel engines to reduce fuel consumption costs. This study uses a downdraft type gasification process. Inclusion of 5 kg of rice husk in the reactor is done once in testing one variation. Syn-gas produced in the gasification reactor is sucked by a suction blower whose tip blower will be given a variation of outlet holes with the number of holes 7, 15, and 25 with a hole diameter of 5 mm. The gas that comes out through the burner hole is burned and the length of the flame measured. Taking long flame images through a photo camera mounted near the syn-gas burner. Flame length data that has been taken and then measured using AutoCAD. From the results of measurements in the variation of the number of holes 7 with a diameter of 5 mm obtained a length of 137.81 mm flame with a constant flame of 5 minutes. In the variation of 15 holes obtained a flame length of 205.76 mm with a constant flame of 10 minutes. And variations with the number of holes 25 with 5 mm hole length of the flame obtained 320.71 mm with a constant flame of 12 minutes. The data obtained in addition to the length of the flame is also a visualization of the flame at the end of the outlet.
