Abstract

Nymphaea pubescens, besides being used as an ornamental plant, also has a function as a waste absorber. This study aims to determine the ability of Nymphaea pubescens to reduce phosphate and ammonia levels in household wastewater. This research was carried out in Gayamsari Village, East Semarang District. The study used CRD with 4 treatments 3 replications to obtain 12 units of the plant Nymphaea pubescens. The treatments are, P0 = 0 gr Nymphaea pubescens + 15 liters of household waste, P1 = 25 gr Nymphaea pubescens + 15 liters of household waste, P2 = 50 gr Nymphaea pubescens + 15 liters of household waste, P3 = 75 gr Nymphaea pubescens + 15 liters 15 liters of household waste. The research data were tested using analysis of variance and Duncan's Multiple Range Test with a test level of 5%. The results showed that the average percentage of phosphate levels in household wastewater treated by Nymphaea pubescens plants decreased by 84% and the average percentage of ammonia levels decreased by 67%. so it can be concluded that the Nymphaea pubescens plant can reduce phosphate and ammonia levels in household wastewater.
