FORMULASI GEL LIDAH BUAYA DENGAN BAHAN TAMBAHAN MINYAK CENGKEH SEBAGAI HAND SANITIZER
Abstract
The increasing demands of today's society are improving the quality of
hygiene and the health of the people themselves. This is in line with the society needs to get convenience or simplicity in maintaining hand hygiene. It can be solved by using hand antiseptic gel (hand sanitizer). The addition of active ingredients of clove leaf oil and Aloe vera extract is needed to improve the quality of hand sanitizer gel. Clove leaf oil contains main compound of eugenol which plays an active role as an antiseptic, antimicrobial, and other pharmacological activities, as well as aloe vera extract containing saponin and tannin compounds which are functioning as antibacterial agents substituting for trichosan in the hand sanitizer gel. This study aims to determine the physical properties of hand sanitizer gel preparations which include organoleptic tests, density tests, homogeneity tests and determine the chemical properties of hand sanitizer gel preparations, namely by testing the pH of the preparations. The hand sanitizer gel produced in this study has a density between 1.0555-1.0696 g/mL. The pH of the hand sanitizer gel is about 5.94-6.82. Four preparations formulas of 8% -14% concentrations have met SNI-06-2588-1992 standards.
