Abstract

The minimization of the existing river pollution is only at the level of
control at the effluent source through the policy approach of determining the quality of wastewater. However, pollution control has not yet reached optimal results. Proven still high levels of pollution in the river. This indicates that there are sources of pollution from activities that have not been able to be controlled. Chemical pesticides, especially herbicides, are one of the contributors to water pollution. During this time the use of weed control by chemical means that rely on herbicides is preferred by farmers because of the fast way to show results. The rapid use of chemical herbicides continuously has negative effects on the environment, resulting in a certain weed becoming resistant and can also trigger the emergence of new, more aggressive weeds (Rahayu, 2003). The use of biological pesticides has a great opportunity for its development and is supported by the fact that in the weed puzzles (Cyperus rotundus L.) in Indonesia, several diseases have been detected in the leaf tissue, so the development of puzzle weed control using plant pathogens has the potential to reduce river pollution, especially in waters . This research is
in a series to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and look for biological
control agents that are potential as biological pesticides in weed puzzles
(Cyperus rotundus L.).
