Abstract


One of the factors that determines the success of development in the economic sector in a region is human resources in the form of labor. The increasing number of people involved in the world of work or labor involved in the production process, will cause the goods and services produced in the community to increase, thereby resulting in an increase in the level of regional income. The purpose of this study was to determine the shape of the probit regression model of the factors that influence labor participation, describe what factors influence labor participation, and the opportunities of the factors that influence labor participation in Tanah Datar District Based on the results of the study, obtained the best probit regression model that illustrates the factors that influence labor participation in Tanah Datar District in 2017 are: Φ − 1 (Pi) = 0.038 - 0.345X3 + 0.666X6 + 1,356X7 - 1.330X8 from this model, it can be seen that the factors that influence labor participation significantly are social security (X3), age (X6), status of head of household (X7), and employment status (X8). The highest opportunity of the factors that influence labor participation is labor with those who do not have social security, are not in productive age, not as head of the household and do not have a work status that has an opportunity of 95.64%.
