Abstract

In learning mathematics at school, mathematical communication is a basic skill that must  be mastered by students. In learning, teachers are expected to be able to improve students' mathematical communication skills.  One of the efforts to improve students' mathematical communication skills is the use of learning videos. The research method used is descriptive qualitative using the Quasi Experimental Design method, namely the experimental research design, which is a development of the True Experimental Design through the Nonequivalent
Control Group Design. The sample in this study consisted of two classes selected from class XII SMA N 2 Semarang Academic Year 2020/2021. Class XII MIPA 10 as the experimental class and XII IPS 2 as the control class. Collecting data in this study using cognitive tests. The cognitive
test used was an essay test consisting of 3 questions. The essay test used is compiled based on mathematical communication indicators. The results of this study, there is a difference in the average mathematical communication skills of the experimental class of 98.8889 and the control
class of 73.8571. Then from the t-test in the table above, the results of tcount> ttable are obtained where the t-count is 16.999 and the t-table is 1.68957. Based on the research results, the use of learning videos can be said to be effective in improving students' mathematical communication skills.
