Pemanfaatan Metode Audiolingual melalui Repetition Drill untuk Meningkatkan Pronunciation Siswa Kelas XI MIPA 6 di SMA N 9 Semarang

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan metode audiolingual dengan teknik pengulangan dapat memberikan pengaruh dalam peningkatan kemampuan pronunciation siswa di kelas XI SMA N 9
Semarang, metodologi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, data didapat melalui wawancara dan hasil rekaman suara siswa, dengan subjek pada penelitian ini adalah 36 orang dari kelas XI MIPA 6. Ada 3 teknik yang digunakan dalam penerapan metode tersebut, yaitu model dialog dengan guru, pada cara ini siswa berlatih secara langsung dengan dengan guru dalam bentuk dialog, pronuncition drill dengan berpasangan, dan pada cara ini siswa melakukan dialog dengan teman sebangku secara berulang ulang dan pronunciation drill oleh siswa, ra individu, setelah guru memberikan contoh secara berulang. sedangkan pada cara tersebut siswa berlatih mengucapkan suatu kata secara berulang. Hasil dari penelitian in menunjukkan bahwa dari beberapa dialog yang telah disajikan guru, ada 23 kata yang masih sering salah diucapkan oleh siswa, dan hasil wawancara dengan guru dan siswa menunjukkan bahwa metode Audio Lingual Method dengan repetition drill dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pronunciation siswa pada pada closing diphthong /aɪ/ dan closing diphthong /eɪ/.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know how applied Audiolingual with repetition technique had influenced to improve the students pronunciation in eleventh grade SMA N 9 Semarang, The methology of this research is
descriptive qualitative method, and the data were collected using interview, and record. The subjects consisted 36 studentsat XI MIPA 6. There were three technique that the researcher used modeling dialogue by the
teacher, in this way the students did direct dialogue with the teacher, pronunciation drill through repetition by the students, then in this way student drilled their pronunciation by them self after the teacher was giving
example, and pronunciation drill by pairs, and the last students did direct dialogue with her friends in the class. The result of this research showed from some dialogues that the teacher had given, there are 22 words that was wrong in students pronunciation, and from the interviewed result showed that Audio Lingual Method with repetition drill is able to improve students’ pronunciation of closing diphthong /aɪ/ and closing diphthong /eɪ/.
