Abstract

The study was conducted with the aim of knowing the lactose and protein content in
formula milk aged 6-12 months and breastmilk (ASI) aged 6-12 months. The research
method used in this research is analytical research method. The research was conducted
in the nutrition laboratory of the Muhammadiyah University of Semarang. This study
used breast milk samples for babies aged 6-12 months, namely 8 months and formula
milk for babies aged 6-12 months which were found in supermarkets. Based on the data
obtained, the lactose and protein content in formula milk used as the sample is higher
than the lactose and protein content in breast milk. The results of the research obtained
on the lactose content test in formula milk were 20.02% while in breast milk it was
13.85%, and on the test the protein content in formula milk was obtained at 8.44% while
the protein test in breast milk obtained results of 1.92 %. The high and low levels of
lactose and protein content in breast milk can also be caused by many factors, including
economic factors and the education of breastfeeding mothers in the breast milk sample
used. In economic factors, breastfeeding mothers in the breast milk sample used are
mothers who have a lower middle economic level. Economic factors also affect the
content of breast milk produced. In the education factor, the mother's baby is a high
school graduate (SMA), in this case it certainly affects the breast milk content used in
the research sample, especially in terms of knowledge.
