Abstract

Mother's milk (ASI) and infant formula are the main source of nutrition in infants  under 6 months of age. The content donated by breast milk is lactose. Lactose consists of yields and galactose that form the disaccharide chain. The purpose of this study was to study the comparison of lactose levels in breast milk and SGM formula milk in the age range 1-3 years with the Luff Schoorl method. Standardization is done by titrating Na2S2O3 ± 0.1 N solution with a standard KIO3 primary solution with 20% KI, 4N H2SO3 and 1% starch until the blue color can be returned and up to constant. Determination of lactose content by the Luff Schoorl method using the equivalent of 0.1 N Na2 S2O3 in the Luff Schoorl table.Research results obtained from breast milk and formula milk ranging from 1-3 years produced were 4.35%; 12.44. Lactose content in breast milk has a lower
lactose content compared to formula milk in the age range 1-3 years. Related to this it can be concluded that lactose formula milk is higher than breast milk.
