Relaksasi Otot Progresif terhadap Kadar Gula Darah pada Pasien Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease that occurs in Indonesia from year to year, the number is increasing. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is characterized by the inability of the body to use insulin effectively. Various ways of management or management are carried out to treat diabetes mellitus, namely education, nutritional therapy, physical exercise, and pharmacological interventions. Physical exercise given to the management of diabetes mellitus includes training progressive muscle relaxation. This study aims to determine whether progressive muscle relaxation can reduce blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Descriptive study design with a correlation study approach is data collection or analysis of the relationship between two variables in a situation. This research was conducted from December to July 2018 with a total sample of 27 respondents. The results of this study indicate that of the 27 sample respondents who had type 2 diabetes mellitus, there were more women with a percentage (63.0%) compared to men who obtained a percentage of prestase percentage (37.0%), of the 27 respondents who had the youngest age of 50 and the oldest age 70 years with an average age (58.93%), the respondent's weight obtained an average value (62.67%), from 27 respondents before doing progressive muscle relaxation with an average value of (188.85 %) and after obtaining an average value (179.22%). From the results of the study showed that progressive muscle relaxation given can help in lowering blood sugar levels. Recommendations from this study for health services to be able to provide non-pharmacological therapy for progressive muscle relaxation and can be done independently to control blood sugar levels.
